Edward The Emu was shortlisted in 1989 as the Children's Book Council of Australia's Picture Book of the Year.

For this year, the Royal Australian Mint has partnered with the Children's Book Council of Australia to produce a coin featuring an adored Australian children's book. Edward The Emu by Edward Knowles and Rob Clement is celebrated in 2023 - 35 years since it was first published.
