• 99.99% pure silver

• Limited mintage – 1,888

• Numbered certificate of authenticity

• Presentation packaging

With the tones and surface abrasions of an ancient artefact, this 2oz silver release portrays our 2024 Year of the Dragon design in exceptional detail.

Those born under the sign of the Chinese lunar Dragon in 2024, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975 and each 12th preceding year are said to be intelligent, creative, vigilant and compassionate.

The Australian Lunar Series III 2024 Year of the Dragon 2oz Silver Antiqued Coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 99.99% pure silver and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. No more than 1,888 of these coins will be released worldwide.

DESIGN

The coin’s reverse portrays a dragon with water cascading from its mouth. The design’s detailed background includes representations of a village, a pagoda, a river, a ‘moon’ bridge, traditional Chinese boats, mountains, and swirling clouds. Also included on the reverse is a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.

The obverse of the coin bears the Jody Clark Memorial Obverse of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II supplemented with the dates of her reign ‘1952-2022’, the weight and fineness, the 2024 year-date and the monetary denomination.

TECHNICAL NOTE

The coin has been individually ‘antiqued’ to give it a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact. As a result of this treatment the appearance of each coin may vary.

PRESENTATION

The coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid decorated with a silver geometric design. The case is packaged in a beautifully illustrated shipper portraying the story of how the Dragon became an animal of the Chinese lunar calendar and is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.

The shippers of future animals in the Lunar Series III will, when arrayed together, form a diorama depicting the ancient myth of The Great Race.
