The Royal Australian Mint is proud to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the first coloured $2 coin released into circulation with this stunning 2022 $2 C Mintmark Coloured Uncirculated Coin featuring the iconic original red poppy design. A mint first when it was released in 2012, the red poppy coin heralded an amazing decade of coloured $2 coin releases and collecting.

When the Royal Australian Mint released the Remembrance Day coloured $2 coin in November 2012, it signified a number of firsts for the organisation – first coloured coin released into circulation, first use of micro text on a circulating coin, and first time that the $2 coin reverse design had been changed since its introduction in 1988. This was an important milestone for the mint and its ongoing development as a truly modern, world-leading centre of numismatic excellence.

In the intervening decade, the mint has continued to release coloured $2 coins into circulation to commemorate major anniversaries and organisations. With each release, the Australian public has embraced these small colour ‘Australian stories’ and engaged in an ongoing national passion for coin collecting.
