Victory at Bathurst in 2006 belonged to Craig Lowndes (his first win at Bathurst since 1996).

Lowndes was ably supported by co-driver Jamie Whincup, a first-time Mount Panorama winner. The race also belonged to Ford, with this being the first Bathurst for the motoring giant since 1998. And the car that made it happen? The 5-litre, V8, fuel-injected BA Falcon.
