2017 Bananas In Pyjamas 20c Graded MS69 by PCGS.
Celebrating 25 years of the Bananas in Pyjamas on ABC KIDS.
In a 1967 children’s song by Carey Blyton, the world was introduced to the imagination-filled idea of pyjama-clad bananas running down stairs in duos, chasing teddy bears on Tuesdays. The song was soon adopted into the repertoire of the beloved Australian children’s television program Play School, where it became familiar fare for the country’s preschoolers.
As the years passed, the song and its banana stars were turned into an animated story on Play School, before having such an impact that the storyline was spun off into its own show in 1992.
For the past 25 years, Bananas in Pyjamas has been an iconic staple of children’s viewing sharing important learnings about cooperation, friendship, creativity and enjoyment. The formidable pair of B1 and B2 was also featured in the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and made a mark on American television (outrating Sesame Street) in the 1990s.
Reverse design on 20c features Bananas in Pyjamas chasing teddy bears.
