Known as Australia's bloodiest day the 1916 Battle of Fromelles took 5533 Australian casualties including 1917 lives. Fighting alongside British Troops the objective was to capture and hold a line of German trenches in an effort to prevent the enemy from sending reinforcements to the Somme.
