The 2002 coin - Evolution of Time, is widely regarded as being one of the most stunning designs released by The Perth Mint. The reverse design reflects man's obsession with timekeeping and features representations of ancient and modern timekeeping methods.

The design on the reverse of this coin reflects man's obsession with timekeeping. It is the second in a 5-year Evolution companion series depicting the tools or instruments that have helped man define the universe through the ages. The latin inscription reads '"Tempus fugit et nunquam revertitur" (Time flies and never returns).
