2002 $5 Outback Hologram Silver Proof Coin
At the top part of the reverse design is a colour hologram - the second on an Australian coin. Depending on the angle of view, it's almost as if the sun is rising higher because The Olgas redden in the heat of the day and late afternoon. Then moving the coin again, they darken into the outback twilight.
The struck design is an image of The Olgas as if they are being reflected in a pool of rainwater. two separate images are visible. The hologram utilises a method pioneered and patented by Australia's CSIRO (Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation) known as EXELGRAM. The optically variable properties of the image are produced by an extremely fine scale pattern of ridges covering the area of the image.
Note: This is a second hand item and may have ageing or minor marks to the outer box however the coin itself has no issues. The image used is a generic image as we have more than one available.
