Stuart Devlin's original concept description: A frill-necked lizard in full display standing on stony ground will be the central motif. The attractive border around it will feature the leaves and flowers of Sturt's desert pea.

His comments on the final design: 'The frill-necked lizard is a challenge to fit into a circle because of its long tail. I have tried to make him look as dynamic as possible.'
