1992 United Kingdom Proof Coin Collection

Please note: Photos displayed are stock photos as we may have multiple of the one item. The set is second hand and may have scuffing, writing or slight tears to the outer box.

The Chancellor's announcement in 1987 was in response to the call for a smaller, lighter coinage and the new 10p coins came in 1992.

The Decimal Proof Set of 1992 therefore contains the last of the original 10p coins and the first of the new smaller size.

The 50p coin marked the UKs presidency of the Council of Ministers during the latter half of 1992 and the completion of the European Single Market, effective from 1 January 1993.

The £1 coin bore the oak tree for England and was the last in the second floral series of designs representing the four home nations. In 1992 no 50p coins bearing the figure of Britannia were issued for general circulation.
