The 1985 UK Proof Coin Collection is the first to bear the new effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by Raphael Maklouf, FRSA.
The One Pound representing Wales, the second in the series of four new reverse designs for the one pound coin shows a leek eradicated infilling a representation of the Royal Diadem.
The common obverse design shows the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf. The reverse of the English one pound coin was designed by Leslie Durbin and the reverse of the 20p coin by William Gardner.
The reverses of the 50p, 10p, 5p, 2p, and 1p coins are the work of Christopher Ironside.
