1983 United Kingdom Brilliant Uncirculated Annual 8 Coin Collection
Please note: Photos displayed are stock photos as we may have multiple of the one item. The set is second hand and may have scuffing, writing, toning or slight tears to the outer box.
The 1983 UK Uncirculated Coin Collection was released to commemorate the coins of 1983 from The Royal Mint. This collection is of particular significance due to the introduction of the £1 coin depicting the Royal Coat of Arms, the first of which was struck by the Prince of Wales on a visit to The Royal Mint.
The pound coin would eventually replace the popularity of the pound note over several decades. This 8-piece annual hosts the 2nd Portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II by Arnold Machin RA, and a modified version of his portrait has appeared on stamps since 1967.
1983 saw inventions including the Austin Metro, the first Dyson vacuum and the Compact Disc (CD), the introduction of seatbelt laws for driver and passenger seats, and Culture Club’s "Karma Chameleon" topped the charts.
We also met Edmund Blackadder and children everywhere tuned into CITV for the first time. This Royal Mint 1983 collection marks an extraordinary year for the Royal Family, coinage and current affairs, and now you can purchase a piece of this historical year.
