The Australian Silver Kookaburra series - to which this coin belongs - has legal tender status in Australia and are one of very few legal tender bullion silver coins to change their design every year, always featuring a kookaburra - a bird native to Australia.

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned bust of Queen Elizabeth II, facing right (her effigy known as the "Third Portrait"). The Queen is wearing the royal diadem which she wears on her way to and from the State Opening of Parliament, a pearl necklace and earrings. Incuse in tiny letters on the neck truncation, the designer's initials RDM (for Raphael David Maklouf). The background of the central circle is frosted.

Within a beaded border, the reverse design of the coin shows a kookaburra bird perched on a farm fence. Around left, the inscription THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA. Around right, the precious metal content: 1 OZ. 999 SILVER (one troy ounce of 99.9% silver). The background of the central circle is frosted.

Please note: This item is second hand and may have nicks, marks and scuffs to the outer and/or inner box or capsule. We strive to ensure that all items listed for sale are to a high standard, but please be aware that some of the older boxes issued by the Mints have not stood the test of time.

This particular coin has some toning to the obverse and reverse as is usual for this release, but in our view does not detract from the beauty of the coin. The outer black box and inner felt are in great condition.
