The 1998 Bass & Flinders Fifty cent coin (50c) and two 45 cent Tools of Exploration Postage Stamps were jointly issued by Australia Post and the Royal Australian Mint Canberra on 10th September 1998.

The postage stamps have been cancelled with a special 'Compass' first day of issue postmark dated 10 September 1998 at Navigators Vic 3352.

The stamps were designed by Lynda Warner of Hobart while the pack was designed by Sandra Harman of the Australian Post Graphic Design Studio.
