Ferris Wheel 2025 2oz Silver Antiqued Coloured Coin
First introduced at the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago by civil engineer George Washington Gale Ferris Jr., the Ferris wheel captivated audiences with its engineering brilliance and breathtaking views. The motive behind its creation was intended to rival the Eiffel Tower in terms of architectural marvel and international appeal. Today, from fairs and carnivals to amusement parks across the globe, the Ferris wheel continues to embody the nostalgia, wonder and spirit of these cherished events.
The coin’s reverse portrays an array of traditional carnival motifs. Arranged in a clockwise pattern from the top is a night sky dotted with stars, clouds, and suspended fairy lights. The scene depicts coloured hot air balloons, a jovial merry-go-round, a soaring flying swing, children playing, carnival tents, balloons, and an exhilarating rollercoaster ride. Also included in the design is the 2025 year-date, surrounded by coloured fireworks, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The coin’s centre features a special rotating Ferris wheel insert adorned with multi-coloured Swarovski crystals and 24-carat gold plating on an alloy base.
This coin has been ‘antiqued’ by hand to give it a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact. As a result of this treatment, the appearance of other coins in the limited mintage may vary.
