The Perth Mint is pleased to present this 2024 Australian Kangaroo, the first Perth Mint coin to feature the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III on the obverse.
Previously known as the Prince of Wales, Charles became King on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on 8 September 2022. As well as the United Kingdom, he was proclaimed King of 14 Commonwealth realms, including Australia. The coronation took place at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023, where His Majesty was accompanied by his wife Camilla, who was crowned Queen.
Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver in proof quality and issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The Perth Mint will release no more than 7,500 of the Australian Kangaroo King Charles III Obverse First Issue 2024 1oz Silver Proof Coin.
DESIGN
The coin’s reverse portrays a bounding kangaroo surrounded by stylised rays of sunlight. The inscription ‘AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO’, the coin’s weight, purity, and the 2024 year-date appear within a border pattern of wavy lines. Also incorporated in the design is a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.
The coin bears the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.
PRESENTATION
The coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid. Packaged within an illustrated shipper, each coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
